The Site office for revival of Talcher FCI Plant was inaugurated on 15/10/2012 at Talcher>>
Revival of the urea unit of the Talcher FCI Fertilizers Plant would fulfill the emerging large production-demand gap of urea in the country and farmers would benefit from it, said Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Sri Srikant Jena on Monday. Inaugurating the Site Office for revival of the plant as a joint venture of the Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers Ltd, the Coal India Ltd and the Fertilizer Corporation of India, Hon'ble Minister said the revives unit would bring prosperity in the region and create employment opportunities in the State. He said that with the coal gasification technology, the revived unit would annually produce 12.7 lakh tonnes of urea, 2.8 lakh tonnes of nitric acid and 3.3 lakh tonnes of ammonium nitrate. He also informed that bids have already been invited for construction of the coal gas unit while bids would soon be invited for construction of the ammonia-urea units and ammonium nitrate unit. He said that a new investment policy based on international benchmark pricing is under consideration of the Union Government to encourage investment in the urea sector. This policy, when implemented, would benefit the Talcher unit in maintaining its profitability, especially because the cost of synthesis gas is expected to be about 20 per cent to 30 per cent less than the current level of cost of natural gas. Among others, the meeting was also attended by Hon'ble Sambalpur MP Sri Amarnath Pradhan, Hon'ble Dhenkanal MP Sri Tathagata Satpathy, former Union Minister Sri K.P Singh Deo, MCL CMD Sri S.K Sahay and FCI CMD Sri Satish Chandra, Hon'ble Talcher MLA Sri Braja Kishore Pradhan and other district level officials.
