The "Mashal Sovayatra" for TARANG-2011 was organized on 4/12/2011 to create awareness on Save Girl Child education, health, environment, sanitation, pollution & total literacy campaign. The "Mashal Sovayatra" was started from three different places, Satakosia(Tikarpada), Pallahara(Khuludi Saiva Pitha) & Deulajhari (Athamallik) which also covered all the 8 blocks of the district. The Collector, ADM & PD(DRDA) led the "Mashal Sovayatra" from Satakosia, Deulajhari & Khuludi respectively. The workshop on e‐Scholarship (Post Matric) Project for SC, ST, OBC, SEBC & Minority category was held at DRDA Conference Hall of Angul District, Odisha on 25/11/2011. Sri Debaraj Senapati, OAS(I), ADM, Angul inaugurated the workshop. Addressing the participants, ADM wished that this project would help to streamline the process for providing scholarship to the students of ST/SC/OBC/SEBC and minority community. He thanked NIC for developing such a project which will help the poor students of ST,SC,OBC,SEBC & Minority community. Sri B.K.Panigrahi, DWO delivered the welcome address & informed that this is 2nd workshop at Angul and he requested the participants to actively participate & make the project a success. Sri S. K. Chatterjee, Technical Director & DIO, NIC Angul District Unit explaining the process flow of the e‐Scholarship project & urged the participants to start awareness campaign at their respective institutions so that students can apply for e‐scholarship online in large numbers. Sri S. P. Dash, Scientist‐C, NIC Odisha State Unit, Bhubaneswar gave the detail presentation & online demonstration about the e‐Scholarship Project. The participants were requested to raise their doubts & problems being faced while using the portal, which were clarified & proper process was demonstrated. The Principals and Nodal Officers from about 70 institutions of the district attended the workshop. Participants appreciated & welcomed this ICT initiative in the scholarship distribution system. Devendra Bansal a student of class Vth of the O.P. Jindal School, Angul has qualified for the International Spelling Bee Oral Competition, to be held at Abu Dhabi, U.A.E in the month of January 2012. Devendra Bansal the son of Mr. Deepak Bansal and Mrs. Poonam Bansal has entered into this International Spelling Bee Oral Competition only after successfully qualifying at the national level Oral and International level written rounds held at Thrissur (Kerala) on 22nd Oct, 2011 organized by MaRRS. MaRRS International Spelling Bee is the first competition in Asia for School Children with an object to enhance the spelling and literary skills of children by encouraging them to explore the English language, expand their vocabulary, and improve their communication and comprehension skills. This is the competition which begins at the School and then progresses to the International Level through the Inter School, State, and National level competitions. RPDAC meeting held at Angul>> The Rehabilitation & Peripheral Development Advisory Committee Meeting (RPDAC) for Bhushan & Mahagauj Coal Mines was held at DRDA Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Sri Kishore Chandra Barik, IAS, RDC(ND), Sambalpur. JSPL Inks Deal for Industrial Park at Angul>>Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) signed a memorandum of understanding with Govt. of Odisha to set up an Industrial Park in Angul District. The park is planned at Parjang, about three km from the site where JSPL is setting up a six million tonne per annum integrated steel plant. The industrial park will be set up over an area of 1,400 acres in the district and will focus on downstream units that would both add value and result in increased industrial activity. Talcher girl makes Orissa proud>> Lipsa Bharati, the only girl student from Talcher, Odisha, stood second in the national-level science seminar in Delhi recently. Lipsa would be on her way to attend an International Conference in Poland shortly, being organized to commemorate the centenary of Madam Marie Curie receiving the Nobel prize. Earlier, Lipsa, a student of class IX in Talcher Thermal DAV School, topped the State-level seminar this year, which facilitated her entry to the national level seminar where she stood second. The famous Laxmi Puja which was started at Angul from 11/10/2011(Kumar Purnima) came to and end on 22/10/2011. Goddess Laxmi was worshipped at around 50 Puja Pandals in the town & huge gates with impressive light decoration were made at all the Puja Mandaps. The immersion procession was held on 22/10/2011 and there was an impressive display of fire works by various Puja Committees near Angul Stadium. Thousands of people assembled near Stadium to witness this fucntion. Chief Minister reviewed flood situation with District Collectors over VC on 18/09/2011>>
Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik discussed about relief and reconstruction work with Collectors of 19 flood-hit districts through NIC Video-conferencing on 18/09/2011 and said the relief work will continue for another seven days in villages still marooned. He also gave instructions for providing jobs to affected people under MGNREGS. Asking the District Collectors to ensure immediate payment of wages in a transparent manner, Shri Patnaik said impoverished people should be provided immediate assistance through Gratuitous Relief Card. The Central team is likely to visit the affected areas for field assessment any time after September 20 and District authorities have been asked to furnish damage assessment reports as soon as possible.
