Angul is a land of great writers, poets, historians who make this god given natural land proud. Many great authors have born in this piece of land. There were also many publications/ magazines published from here. Some of the great writers and publications of both past and present are being produced here.
1. Kabiratna Nilambar Achrya (1710-1772) : He was born at Manpur which is only 15 KMs from Angul. Author of "Sukaduta" (Sanskrit), "Rasachandika" (Sanskrit).
2. Nrusingha Kabichandra Raiguru (1790-1879) : He was the royal poet in the "Durbar" of King Somnath Singh of Angul. He was conferred with "Lat Kabichandra Raiguru" by both Angul & Talcher Kings. Author of "aghaba Bilash", Budhapanka", "Rukmini Bibhaha", "Prema Tarangini","Punia Champu", "Hemlata" etc.
3. Brajabandhu Samanta Singhar (18th Century) : He was born at Turanga village near Angul town. Author of "Sri Sri Ramalilamruta".
4. Sudarshan ohapatra (1795-1870) : He was born at Badakera village. Author of "Haribansha".
5. Krushanchandra Behera (1812-1875) : He was born at Angarabandha Village. He had written "Binod Bhagabata".
6. Dinabandhu Pagala (1835-1895) : He was born at Khalari village of Angul. He had written "Srikrishna Lilamruta", "Radhamadhab Chautisa", "Krushna Bhagabata", "Bagabhatta" etc.
7. Kabichandra Tankadhar Ota (1848-1934) : He was born at Ekagharia village near Talcher. He was coferred with "Kabichandra" from Talcher King Ramachandra Dev Birabara Harichandan. Author of ""Manabhanjan Champu", "Siva Stuti", "Lilabati Biraha Chintamani", "Chandrayudha Chautisa" etc.
8. Srinibas Singh (1866-1940) : He was born at Gotamara village near Angul. He was the promoter of primary education in the district. He was Assistant Director of Education. He was conferred with "Raisaheb". He had written "Sishu Khelagita", "Sita", Sabitri Kabya", "Odia Nutan Prathama Patha" etc.
9. Laxman Mishra (1869-1970) : He was born at Khamar village. Author of "Sahaja Barnabodha", "Maya Simantini", "Apabada Bhanjan" etc.
10. Jadunath Kabyatirtha (1881-1961) : Born at Khamara village. He was a great sanskrit scholar. The Angul Sanskrit College is named after him. Author of "Satyam Param Dhimahi" (Sanskrit), "Prapatti", "Narayan Sataka" etc.
11. Kalyana Sahu (1888-1962) : Born at Kosala village. Author of "Kosala Ramachandi Charita", "Kalapata", "Triveni", "Sakuntala", "Kabitahata" etc.
12. Sudhakar Pattnaik (1892-1983) : He was an eminent historian. He was born at Purunagarh. Written various articles on Talcher Paschimeswar temple, Bhimkand's Lord Bishnu. Edited "Brajanath Badajena Granthabali", "Samara Taranga", Gundicha Bije", "Chatura Binod" , "Chkada Pothi" etc.
13. Srinibas Gadnayak (1894-1955) : Born at Gadasantri. Author of "Satir Sandhani", "Naradi", "Bapuji Prayane", "Lovi Thakurani", "Bhagiratha". He had also written more than 300 poems which are very popular now a days but unpublished so far.
14. Ramesh Chandra Singh (1905-1981) : Born at Gotamara village. He had translated "Srimod Bhagbat Gita" into english.
15. Dasarathi Dash (1907-1990) : Born at Susuda (Somnathpur Sasan). Author of "Naradi"(1952), "Gopigita"(1968). Felicited by Orissa Sahitya Academy in 1988.
16. Rajakishore Padhi (1909) : Author of "Bhgabata Chintana", "Swayambhu Jagannath", "Manasi Radha".
17. Hauli Muduli (1910) : Born at Chheliapada, Angul. Author of "Sarat Rasa".
18. Dinabandhu Tripathy (1910-2001) : Born at Ramabereni. Author of "Shrasta O Manish" (1999). He was also a eminent journalist & private tuition master of ex-CM. Mrs. Nandini Sathpathy.
19. Radhamohan Garnaik (1911-2000) : He was born at Kalandapal Village on 25.8.1911. He was the most eminent literary personality of Angul. His writings are the great assets of Oriya literature. He was the author of "Banarajinila" (1968) ,"Meghaduta" (1954), "Kalidas"(1940), "Biplabi Radhanath"(1944), "Kabya Nayika" (1945), "Utkalika" (1945), "Nabajatak" (1947), "Smaranika" (1950), "Mousami" (1951), "Kaisorika"(1953), "Duiti Thara Dena"(1954), "Dipashikha" (1956), "Pasupakhi ra Kabya" (1959), "Dhusara Bhumika" (1960), "Samukara Swapna" (1961), "Kumara Sambhaba"(1968), "Shorab O Rustam" (1963), "Garnaik Granthabali" (1968), "Surya O Andhakar" (1974), "Gandhi Gatha"(1978), "Abachira Tara"(1982), "Hirakhanda Gatha"(1986) etc. He was written hundreds of ballad. He was conferred with Kendra Sahitya Academy Award (1975), Bishuba Award (1988), Nandighosh Award (1988), Padmashri (1990), Atibadi jagannath Das Award(1993), Utkalaratna Award (1997), Utkalashree (1999), Swabhiman (1999) & D.Litt (1997) from Utkal University etc.
20. Kulamani Dwivedi (1911-2000) : Born at Jarasinga village. Author of "Bihanga Bilapa"(1985), "Kabita Kaibalya (1st part)" 1990) etc.
21. Balakrushna Pattnaik (1919-1994) : Born at Badakerajang village. He was one of the founder of Bagedia & Jarpada High School and Chhendipada & Jarapada college. He was editor of monthly literary magazine "Ama Desh" (1959-1960).
22. Sadananda Parida (1919) : Born at Susuda. He was the master of "Dandya Nrutya". He has written poems like "Bhutakeli", "nabakeli", "Laxmi Brata", "Binakaria", "Baidhani" and all these are recited in "Dandya Nrutya".
23. Ratnakar Nayak (1920) : Born at Badakerajang. He was a freedom fighter. He had published "Baidanka", the first literary magazine from Angul in 1947from his own hand made press.. It was published upto 1967. He was also the author of "Kosala Jatra", "Bhisya Purana", "Bhata Gauna".
24. Gatikrushna Satpathy (1923) : He is staying at Similipada, Angul. Author of "Manaswini" and "Bilwamangala".
25. Prasanna Kumar Mishra (1924) : Born at Khamara village. Author of "Prasanna Bhajana"(1963), "Nala Charita"(1964), "Aparana" ( 1966) etc.
26. Karitika Biswal (1925) : Born at Tulasipal. He was author of "Anugul Itihasa".
27. Nrusingha Mishra (1927) : He is living at Somanathpur Sasana. He has written many articles which were published in "baidanka" and "Chitragupta".
28. Bhaskar Chandra Dash (1928) : Staying at Anand Nagar, Angul. He has translated "Rama Charita Manasa" .
29. Pandita Pranabandhu Mishra (1928) : Born at Mahidharpada. He was a Sanskrit teacher at Angul High School. Author of ""biduraniti" and "Niti Pradipa".
30. Narasingha Mishra (1931) : Born at Mahidhara Pada near Angul. Author of "Smruti Swapna", "Hemasankha", "Milana", "Belabhumi", "Amruta Kunda", "Sakuni" etc.
31. Jaya Narayan Das (1932) : He is residing at Bajiraut Chatrabas His works include writing poems and one act plays etc. His contribution to literature named "KABI" a poem is remarkable.Author of "Prathamastami", "Pilanka Bapi" etc.
32. Harihara Das (Hari Guruji) (1932) : Staying at Hatisalapada, Angul. He has translated Biswaguru Rabindra Nath Tagore's bengali drama "Laxmi r Parikhya". Author of "Jhili", "Asrame", "Bujhamana" etc.
33. Dr. Bipin Bihari Sahu (1933) : Born at Kosala village. He was a retired Vety. Doctor. His publications are "Pimpudi Pichare batha", "Dima Kabiita", "Tuma Dadhi Rana" etc.
34. Mayadhar Sahu (1935) : Born at Kosala village. Author of "Braja Mandala Parikrama".
35. Gangadhar mishra (1935) : Born at Hulurisinga, Angul. Author of "Sri Bhagabati Gita", "Astajiba Mukti", "Sloka Ratnakar" etc.
36. Radhamohan Satpathy (1935) : Staying at Angul. He is the Editor of "Dibya Jibana Jyoti" since 1978. Author of "Sunamudi" .
37. Pandita Nityananda Mishra (1936) : He was born at Paratara Village, Angul. Author of "Sanskruta Bayakaran Pradipa"(1980)
38. Prf. Avirna Chandra Sahu (1937) :He was born at Angul. Author of "Gatha Kbita" ,"Sokagitara parmpara", "Janha O Janharati"
39. Sri Satrughna Mishra (1937) : He was born at Madanmohan Pada Angul. Author of "Kanchi Avijan"(1963), "Angul History"(1997).
40. Sri Muralidhar Mishra (1937) : He was born at Hulurisingha,Angul.He is an eminent teacher and writer. His contributions to literature includes "Bhakti Arghya","Pilanka Puspamalya","Panchati Pradipa","Sabitri Brata","Dayi Kiye".
41. Prof.Karuna Sagar Behera (1939) : He was born at Nuahata.He is a renowned historian of Orissa. He got the D.Litt. in 1973 from Utkal University by researching on the subject "Konark-The Heritage of Mankind". Author of "Temples of Orissa","Prachina Bharata Itihasa", "Prachina Greece Itihasa ","Sagar O Sahitya".Editted "Maritime Heritage of India" and "Hindu Temple Art of Orissa".
42. Dr. Sanat Ku. Mishra (1941) : He was born at Hulurisinga, Angul. He got P.hd. from Utkal University by researching on subject " Odiya Kabya re mrutyu Chetana". He has written more than 70 articles on literature, history, religion etc.
43. Dr. Bramhananda Singha(1942) :He was born at Purunagarh, Angul. Author of "Trutiya Nayana", "Galpadhara", ""Dibaratrira Kabya" etc.
44. Dr. Pratap Kumar Singha(1943) :He was born at Gotamara, Angul. He is a renowned historian. Author of "Cultural Succession of Prehistoric Culture of Central Orissa "(1988), "Stone Age Culture of Central Orissa"(2000), "Anugul ra Prak-Aitihasika Sanskruti" etc.
45. Dr. Banamali Behera (1944) : He was born at Gopalapur, Angul. Author of "Jamadwar", "Mukti O Masani", "Kalabati, Debasisu".
46. Dr. Jayananda Nayak(1944) He was born at Jeranga, Angul. He is a historian. Made reserach on Orissa's Culture Heritage.
47. Pandita Akula Chandra Das(1945) : He was born at Somanathpur Sasan, Angul. Author of "Baulamana". he has also written more than 50 poems whihc are published in different magazines.
48. Sri Ananda Chandra Mahapatra (1945) : He was at Somanathpur Sasan, Angul. He has writen many short stories and poems whihc are published in different magazines. Felicited by "Kalinga Publishing House" in 1967.
49. Sri Janak Kumar Nayak(1945) : He was born at Balaramprasad, Angul. He has written poems on "Hingula" and "Balaramprasad".
50. Sri Pralhad Behera(1946): He was born at Rantalei, Angul. Author of "Nepalbaba & Mandaragiri".
51. Sri Dillip Kumara Ray (1947) : He is at present satying at Anand Nagar, Angul. He is a renowned poet & story writer. His many stories/poems have been published in magazines like "Jhankara", "Asantakali", "nabalipi", "Samabesha" and "Godhulilagna" etc. He is also a good artist.
52. Dr. Kulamani Nayak (1949) : He is at present staying at Anand nagar, Angul. He is a lecture in Oriya literature. Author of " Odia kabitare Nisarga Chetana O Kabi Radhanath".
53. Sri Budhimanta Mohanty (1950) : His current residence is Hemsurpada, Angul. Author of " "Meghaduta", "Biswasishu", "SudasaBrata' etc.
